Additional Comments

Throughout many of these years, Laura had been a long-time Awards Convenor for the Northern Ontario Artists’ Association, where she acquired her NOAA pin. She was also Art Club NOAA rep for many years, then President of her local club, the Temiskaming Palette and Brush Club. She was Volunteer Curator for the Classic Theatre Mezzanine Gallery for over 12 years, Volunteer for the Temiskaming Art Gallery when she was a ‘stay at home mom’, compiling all of their archives of clippings, photos etc in to albums, and helped to install exhibitions. She volunteered whenever needed for the local museums, drawing and donated multiple paintings for fundraisers, colouring books, and presentation awards. Also ran evening adult workshops for years after ‘regular’ work hours and still does.

Laura does demonstrations of her artwork during special events and Cultural Festivals as well as custom framing techniques in both french (with cue cards) and English.

She regularly judges fall fair Art and Photography as well as judges artwork for various galleries and clubs in the region.

She created Slices of Temiskaming (reaching over 70 images) of unlimited edition prints and again the same thing for Manitoulin Island tourism. (Slices of Manitoulin) and has works on permanent location in both these areas. Reproductions of these works have been given in presentations and have ended up literally all over the world.

She started framing her own works out of necessity-which then turned in to a profession and her own shop. She is still working along side the Spring Pulse Poetry Festival by holding her own Annual Limerick Contest…and donates her paintings an prints to help support groups and organizations in her area.

Laura’s motto is ‘If something is within your means to help your community, then it is a natural and simple thing to do’
